Bluebonnet Propagation
Tue, Oct 6 · 4:30pm–6pm
Fall is for planting — and for Texans, that means it’s time to start your bluebonnets. These beloved wildflowers are annuals, living their whole life in just one year: seed to flower to seed again. They germinate in the cooler months, quietly grow through winter, and then burst into bloom come spring. That’s why autumn is the sweet spot for setting the stage. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn practical techniques for planting, germinating, and caring for bluebonnet seedlings. From prepping your soil to giving sprouts the right winter care, you’ll leave with the know-how to give your flowers a strong start. You’ll also practice transplanting methods so that, when the time comes, your seedlings are ready to thrive in the garden. Every participant will take home a packet of bluebonnet seeds to plant in their own space. Picture it now: a patch of state flowers blooming just outside your door. What You’ll Learn: How to properly plant and germinate bluebonnet seeds Tips for caring for seedlings through the winter months Best practices for transplanting seedlings into your garden Why fall timing matters for strong spring blooms This class is designed for adults (ages 15+).
