Menchaca Road between Slaughter and FM 1626 has quietly become far South Austin's main street — a run of live-music saloons, beer gardens, food trailers and neighborhood joints, most with big shady patios. Old-timers still say Manchaca; the street signs say Menchaca. Both are correct depending on who you ask.
